June 2nd 2008 Meeting Notes

  1. Treasurers Report-As of May 08, there was a total of $ 8,775.00 in the account with $4,275.00 available. A motion was made to accept the treasurers report by Bill Baldwin.
  2. Lake Events Committee Reports-

    A. Tagged Fish contest: The tagged fish are rainbow trout. There are 52 companies in the contest. Steve Capporizzo has been supportive of the year long event; we will continue communications with him when the first fish is caught. We value his support.

    B. June 12 th Meet and Greet event at the Sport Island Pub
    - A sign in table will be set up with name tags. It will be manned by staff from J & S Country Store and Hawk Drilling Co. There will be a slide show of past lake events. Members are encouraged to come and bring a guest and information to share informally about their business.

    C. July 19th Event- A “Day” in the Park at the Day Boat launch. An $ 800.00 budget was set for the event. Carl Ward is coordinating the Flotilla which will begin at 4:00. We will be having a raffle and selling tee shirts and/or can coozies at the event. We will be providing prizes three prizes for the best boats.

    D. August 16th First Annual Chowderfest at the point by Edinburg Marina. An $ 800.00 budget was set for this event with $ 600.00 allocated to the band. In the event of rain, the Chowderfest will be held at J & S Country store. All area restaurants, businesses, family and friends are asked to submit their favorite chowder. More information regarding this event will be available soon.

    E. Sand Island Boat Bash September 6
    -TBD at the next meeting

    F. Posters- There was a problem getting the posters out before Memorial Day Weekend. As of this meeting there was not an update by the printer. Bob Campbell will follow up and try to get them out as quickly as possible.

3. Insurance- Kristie Baily submitted a quote for insurance. The quoted cost to cover our events with a $ 1 million aggregate for each claim with a $ 1,000 deductible is $878.60 for four events and $956.00 annually for directors and officers. This is a total of $ 1, 834.60. Janice will be getting another quote to be reviewed at the July meeting. Insurance must be in place before we have our first formal event.


4. New Business-Sales of tee shirts etc. We need to be able to produce enough revenue to cover the cost of insurance and the events that are being put on. If you have any revenue generating ideas, please let us know. We are currently looking for graphics that represent the lake to go on shirts etc. If you have suggestions, please call Doug Sterling or Bob Campbell.

5. Adjourned: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Doug Sterling at 8:20 p.m.

6. The next meeting will be July 7 at the Edinburg Town Hall at 7:00.

Don’t forget to go to Sport Island Pub on June 12 from 5:00 to 7:00 for a meet and greet. Bring a new member !
