April 7th 2008 Meeting Notes


NEXT MEETING
MONDAY May 5th at Broadalbin Town Hall 7:00 PM

  1. Treasurer’s Report- Doug Sterling
    1. There is $ 3,280.00 in the bank
    2. Checks are beginning to come in for membership and fish contest.
    3. A motion to accept the report was made by Doug Connor and seconded by Lew Stutzke.
  2. Lake Events Committee Report-Bob Campbell
    1. Tagged Fish Contest- To date, 20 member companies have signed up for the Fish Contest. The cut off date to sponsor the contest is May 1, 2008. The start date of the contest is May 19, 2008. Bob Campbell has contacted Steve Caporizzo to see if he will do a story in regard to the contest. Steve is an avid fisherman. Steve is interested and has contacted us for more information. Press releases will be sent out about the contest to area newspapers, this week.
    2. June Membership Event- A member/bring a friend to be a new member mixer is planned for June 12, 2008. This event is to thank our members for their support and invite new members to join us. We will be contacting our members to see who is willing to host the event. If you are interested in hosting please contact Bob Campbell at 863-8398. A decision will be made at the May meeting.
    3. July Event- The plan is to hold an event in conjunction with the Town of Day at the end of July when they have their fireworks. The date is July 30. Doug Sterling is coordinating this and will have more information at the next meeting.
    4. August Event- We are looking for ideas for this event. Ideas that have been tossed out to date are a Chowderfest or a Farewell to the Bridge event. If you have any ideas please bring to the next meeting. John Ingro will be coordinating this event.
    5. September Event- A Sand Island Party is being planned for the Saturday after Labor Day, September 6 with a rain date of September 13.
    6. Calendar- We are going to put together a calendar of Lake Events to be distributed before the season begins in May. If you are a member of the Association and your business has any events that you would like to be listed on the calendar ( e.g. fireworks) please contact Bob Campbell or Carl Ward.
  3. Membership Committee Report- Janice Baldwin and Carl Ward have been contacting area businesses and seasonal people with businesses outside of the lake to join the association. In the past week, we have picked up 5 definite members with a promise of at least 10 more.
  4. Insurance- Doug Sterling is preparing financial information to give Kristie Bailey to get rates for insurance for the Association and the Board of Directors. Janice Baldwin has also contacted an insurance agency, that deals associations like ours, to get a quote so can compare costs.
  5. Business Idea Survey- John Ingro is continuing to develop his survey and is hoping to have it ready in the near future.
  6. Other-
    1. Logo- A new logo with a picture of the lake was introduced in the April edition of the Edinburg Newsletter. We will be incorporating this in every thing we do in the next few months.
    2. Website-We have been contacted by an outside individual to develop a new website that would offer links to our members web sites. No decisions have been made and information will be reviewed to be presented to the membership.
    3. Future meetings- The next meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Broadalbin Town Hall.
    4. Adjournment-A motion to adjourn was made by Doug Sterling and seconded by Lew Stutzke.
